Ephemerality of the Cognizant

I was requested to make a picture of my friendship with . Normally this would involve a heartfelt collage of photos and in-jokes, however I felt a powerful and striking abstract representation of our friendship was required.

The title of the piece relates to the core ideals that the work attempts to convey to the observer - that of mass desire for both ignorance and knowledge. The light blue in this art is used to represent those who do not seek understanding, they are content as is, or feeled threatened by advancement.
The darker of the blue represents those forces holding the ignorant from advancement and self actualization of the inner realization.

The red within the ellipse of understanding though close to the border of ignorance represents those starting on their journey for the desire of knowledge and cognizancy. They do not know much, but they know that fact at least and will strive to aim for the center.

The dark red perimeter of the inner group represents a barrier of ignorance, this holds those who think they know all from further advancement, they are as blue as those on the outside, but are worse for it, for they have learned and feel they know all that is needed to be known. When one crosses this second, higher barrier of ignorance, they continue advancing inwards. The striking clash of the dark red and light red represents a sudden realization, the process of actualization and full cognizancy appears almost complete, but there is one final barrier.

This barrier represents the knowledge that you cannot fully actualize your inner awareness of humanity and its place in this universe, but this barrier separates those who know this and stop, from those who know this yet keep reaching. The four hands represent myself and Steffne, we are reaching inwards not to grasp full cognizancy, but to hold hands for we are best buddsies forevs luv yu ma best bff 4lyf =]<3xox
